I have been an administrative assistant for the past 8 years, and it's a job I really enjoy. As a family we love camping, playing and watching sports, and being involved in our church. Tell us about yourself:
My name is Stephanie Thiessen. Iʼm married to my amazing husband Mike and we
have 3 beautiful daughters, Kaia, Kaybrie and Hadley, ages 12, 9 and 6. Iʼm a
mostly stay at home mom that likes to volunteer at church with a few odd jobs on
the side, including selling Stella & Dot, subbing at preschool and being a doula!
My faith is the most important thing to me.
How were you introduced to Stone Brook Strength?
Robin and I used to work together years ago at the radio station and when she moved back to Steinbach we connected again. I was interested in learning more about CrossFit and wanted to do the “on-ramp” training but felt the big gymʼs times didnʼt work for me. So I came to see Robin at Stone Brook Strength. And I loved it so much, I havenʼt left! :)

Song that gets me pumped up for a workout...
Thatʼs hard, I LOVE music... and a variety of music. From 80ʼs to pop, from classical to rock. My favorite though is probably live worship music by groups like Bethel, Hillsong, Elevation, etc. Good workout music for me is good running music... and a couple that Iʼve always picked up my pace while listening include: “Lay me down” by Chris Tomlin, “Luv is a verb” by DC Talk (oh yes, I just said that!), “Happy Day” by Jesus Culture, and “Here with you” by Hillsong.

Member Spotlight - Meet Shelley!
Tell us about yourself
I am a wife, mother and grandmother who retired from
Public Service 1 year ago.
How were you introduced to Stone Brook
Strength?
A friend of mine and I decided we needed to get
involved in some kind of a work-out program and she found out about this home
gym. The idea of a semi-private gym was very appealing to me, as I did not
enjoy the other gym experience.
What is your favorite Workout/Lift?
Really?? Does anyone really have a favorite?? Ok, seriously... I enjoy the simpler lifts,
like Deadlift, Front and Back Squats.
Maybe because they make the most sense to me and I definitely understand
the benefits. I don’t focus so much on
the amount of weight that I can lift but rather on why I am doing it in the
first place. The workout’s can be quite a challenge, but once it’s done I feel
like I have accomplished something! I
appreciate the variety that Robin gives us.... it’s never boring!!
What is your favorite skill/movement
that you have learned at SBS?
I can’t say that I have a favorite, but I really
enjoy seeing the progress that I have made in many areas such as ability and
endurance. Some skills that were very difficult at first are much less difficult
and I really enjoy the variety of skills that we have been introduced to.
What is your “goat”?
Definitely squats.
My body just doesn’t like them very much and doesn’t co-operate like I
would like it too!
One word to describe me would be...
Reserved
I have always wanted...
Good health and happiness for my family and
friends. It sounds like a cliché but
when people around me are happy, it makes me happy too.. I am a sucker for good
endings...
Outside of the gym, I like to...
Spending time with my family and friends, spending
time at the cottage, renovating something or reading.
Three things you would always find in my
fridge...
Ice cream Oh Henry Bars, eggs and Feta cheese!
Something nobody knows about me or would
be surprised to know about me...
I am actually quite shy.
Favorite physical activity outside of
SBS...
Working on the yard at home or at the lake.
Favorite place to eat...
At someone’s house that has invited us for dinner.
What is your day job?
Doing the books for our business.
Song that gets me pumped up for a
workout...
Aaron's songs... (sorry Robin, but I like his music
better)
The last thing I ate was...
Roast beef
My proudest accomplishment is…
Raising my son who is now an amazing father!
My six month goal is...
To continue another year.
If I could have ANYBODY (living or dead)
over for dinner, it would be...
My sister Betty. She was my rock and kept me totally
honest..
My favorite workout attire is...
Whatever I find that morning...
My favorite workout partner(s)...
Everyone I have worked out with is great! I
appreciate the encouragement from the really seasoned people. But I really enjoy working out with my age
group because I feel that we share a common goal and that is to be strong and
stay strong.
